The Joyful Foundation has received thousands of heartfelt letters over the many years of giving to those who are in need. These are just but a sliver of those amazing letters we have received over the years:
"Dear Sandy: Thank you so much - Ava truly loves her new blanket - she cuddled it and cuddled it this morning and then asked me to put it in her bed - she said she cannot wait to sleep with it tonight. This is so very thoughtful of you. Thank you for reaching out to us despite all that you are going through. We wish you the best and are thankful that you have touched our lives. You are truly an amazing individual and very inspiring. Thank you for keeping Ava warm as she will always travel with her blanket to clinic and the hospital and the airplane! Thank you!"
“Thursday morning, I met a woman who is a nurse at CHOC. When I explained that I was making a blanket delivery to CHOC in the afternoon, she told me how much the patients loved the Joyful blankets and how surprised they are when they are told that they can take them home. Several times, she emphasized how appreciated the blankets are. In the afternoon, when I made the blanket delivery to CHOC, a young mother came up to me with her 3 year old daughter and asked if I was responsible for the blankets. After a brief conversation about the Joyful Foundation, she explained that her daughter has 2 blankets, one which she received during one of her stays at Mission CHOC and the other one from the Orange hospital. She said, "You can't imagine how nice it is to walk into Abigail's hospital room and see a bright, colorful blanket on her bed." Sweet, little Abigail gave me a hug and said, "Thank you." What a special moment!”
“My name is Staci and my son Kai is a pediatric oncology patient at Kaiser Lakeview in Anaheim. We received one of your beautiful blankets from the clinic and I wanted to thank you so much for your kindness! It is such a neat blanket and my son absolutely loves the fire trucks on it. It helps to keep him warm during treatments and when he is cold. It was so thoughtful and generous of you to donate the blanket, and we can't thank you enough. Thank you again for the blanket! We will always remember your kindness and thoughtfulness whenever we see the beautiful blanket!”

“My daughter is 3 ½ years old and was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) on January 28, 2008. We were in the hospital for the first 2 months of her treatment. That is when she received her first soft and warm blanket from the Joyful Foundation. The second blanket Kylee received while at the Hyatt Regency on July 10, 2008. Both blankets have little paw prints all over them, which is fitting of Kylee because she is such an animal lover. We keep one at home and one in the car for when she has to go back in for surgery or chemotherapy. I would like to thank you and your friends for your generosity and all the hard work that goes into making these blankets.”
“Dear Sandy and Friends: Thank you so much for the wonderful, soft and cozy blanket that I received in the chemo room last week. It is really a comforting treasure and provides much love and thought. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and deliver this. I am truly appreciative!”

“Dear Sandy and friends: Thank you so much for the blanket. My son received one of your lovely blankets at the CHOC Cancer Clinic. It means a lot to us to know that others take the time to care. My son uses it all the time and I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate everything you do.”

“Hello Sandy and Friends: My wife Gloria (79) started her chemo treatments at St. Joseph’s Cancer Group on 11-13-08. While taking her first treatment in their cold office, one of the nurses brought her one of your nice fleece blankets to cover her with. It was very nice and warm and she used it for each treatment. After a long process, she died on 7-1-09, 4 days short of our 34 year marriage. I hope someone else will get to use this blanket. Again, thank you and God bless you and your workers.”
“Hi there: My name is Amy and our 7 month old daughter, Carter was just released from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at CHOC hospital in Orange. She received the most beautiful blanket while she was there, which made the stay a little more like “home”. Thank you to your wonderful organization and to the loving hands who made the blanket. We can’t express how much it comforted her (and us) in such a difficult time!”
- Love Amy
